Letter February 2020Greetings members,
Hope all enjoying the ‘Spring’ weather. There was a way above average attendance at our February Social Meeting in The Heath Golf Club on Tuesday last with 16/17 present (whether it was the new year or change of venue). The chat with tea/coffee and scones seemed to be enjoyed and some stayed on to partake in some games of scrabble in the club-house. Thanks to Maureen O’Leary for organising the venue which was very suitable to our requirements and I am looking for suggestions for a venue for next month’s meeting on Tuesday 3rd March. Also a reminder if anyone has any ideas for the monthly meetings or for activities please let us know.
Meanwhile Mary McCarthy has organised 3 events which might be of interest to some.
Firstly she is planning a Scrabble Morning in Mountrath Golf Club on Friday 28 th February with an 11am start. So if interested come along for this sociallly competitive event.(If you have a scrabble game set bring it as there may be more than one table needed)
Also Mary has booked 10 tickets for The Gate Theatre in Dublin for a play entitled The New Girl. She has the tickets for the matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday 14th March and will hold them on a first come/first served basis.Tickets are €30 each which is payable to Mary.Contact Mary at 087-2221490 as soon as possible if you are interested. She is recommending travel by train (and some younger retirees may travel as companions) and meeting in the theatre foyer at 2pm on the day.
And also Mary has booked Mountrath Golf Club for a Retired Teachers And Friends Golf Outing on Friday 20th March with an 11am tea/coffee/scones assembly (more details later).
