General Meeting June 2022

Thanks to all who attended the Summer General Meeting of Laois RTAI in the Laois Education Centre on Wednesday last.This being the first general meeting since December 2019 (pre pandemic) there was a good attendance of just over 30. There wasnt much on the agenda but our General Secretary Billy Sheehan attending his first Laois meeting in 3 years gave a comprehensive account of the latest matters of interest to retired teachers-pension,bench-marking,membership etc. Most of the attendees stayed on for lunch and with the meeting, was mainly a social gathering and catch-up.

The next social gathering will be on the first Tuesday of July (5th) and will be a Garden walk with the usual scones,tea/coffee. The venue is the Garden of Enda Thompson-Phelan of Clonohill,near Coolrain,Mountrath (R32NF80) and will have a 2.00pm assembly. The gardens also have a lake walk which forms Laois Angling Centre-which is well sign-posted in the locality.Hopefully this event will attract good interest.

Also in July there will be a Golf Outing in Mountrath Golf Club-on Thursday 21st. This will be a 3 person scramble and all are welcome including spouses,partners of members. Assembly for this event will be at 11am with tea/coffee ,scones in the Club House (at Knockanina between Mountrath and Castletown)

Thanks to Mary McCarthy for organising both of these July social events.No need to reply just turn up at the venue.

There will not be a postal notice re the above events so if you know people not on email list who might be interested in either/both please let them know. Also maybe check with people who are on email list as there are a lot of people who haven’t responded to emails (so Im not sure in such cases if the emails are being seen).
