Hi Laois RTAI members,
Ive finally got around to contacting you again (affected by pandemic laziness and procrastination !!!) and hope that all our members and their families are well and dealing with continued restrictions. Thankfully Laois as a county has been doing well with lower than average numbers testing positive and let’s hope that we keep that going.
Basically I had nothing really to talk about in the last few months as no meetings could be organised and that continues to be the case until further notice/at least September. I was involved in a regional RTAI Zoom meeting with General Secretary, Billy Sheehan and the conclusions and report following a series of such regional meetings is attached to this email as a Newsletter. We have missed our monthly social meetings for April, May, June and July and the August ( and probably September) one will also not take place. We also missed our General Summer Meeting which usually had the General Secretary in attendance and I dont know if /when that will be rescheduled.
Hopefully all got the very helpful and much improved (in my opinion) copy of the Comhnasc magazine which had plenty of Covid advice etc. So I was 'kinda' redundant for the period since my last letter.
As you will read in the attachment the RTAI doesnt want us to organise any activities but that does not preclude any group of members independently organising 'their own thing'.If anyone has events in the locality (especially outdoor ones) that might be of interest to members please let me know and I can send out messages. For anyone interested in walking (for example) I am aware that the Slieve Bloom Walking Club are back in action with a good programme for August and beyond (though some of those are ‘strenuous’). (see Slieve Bloom Walking Calendar on Slievebloom.ie).
Thats all I have for now. Just hoping all our members continue to remain safe.
As I usually communicate with the ‘non email’ members before the Summer Meeting I will be sending them information by letter outlining the latest news but if you meet any of them please keep them up to date.
If anyone is changing their email address from the eircom.net (which is now charging its customers) please email me your new email address
DON’T FORGET IMPORTANT ATTACHMENT TO THIS E-MAIL.
Fanaigí slán agus go mbeirimid le chéile arís chomh luath agus is féidir.
