Sec Update May 17
Dear members
There was a good attendance at the May (Tuesday 4th) Informal Meeting in the Maldron Hotel with good conversation therapy over tea ,coffee and cookies.Any ideas and suggestions were left over for the June General Meeting though Sheelagh Coyle (our arts afficionado)  had information on the Laois Bealtaine Festival and the latest from the local Dunamase Theatre programme.  Following from the meeting 6 members that night attended the Dunamase for the one-man performance by Englishman Mr.Tim Crouch of his own interpretation of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night through the lesser character Malvolio. This was an unusual theatrical piece (to say the least) by the creator of the work but an absolutely outstanding stage performance with audience participation included. The actor/writer had a discussion with the audience after and his acting skills really became obvious as the grotesque and even scarey  Malvolio of the show became a very pleasant calm gentleman. It was a shame that the attendance was small as this was a very worthwhile event one of many  which take place in our often under appreciated county theatre in front of low numbers (regretfully).

The Mountrath  INTO Retirement  Presentation took place on Friday  7th May at which Grainne Molloy and Helen Collier (ex Scoil Bhride,Mountrath) and Mary Delaney (ex Clough N.S)were honoured with presentations followed by a very good meal. The INTO President Ms. Rosena Jordan was a guest attendee and many many of our retired members were present to celebrate the occasion. Some photos from the night are posted on our Laois website and I would like to congratulate Mountrath INTO Branch Chairperson Bridgid Bennett (ex Mountrath GNS and now Clonbullogue NS Principal Teacher) and Secretary Teresa McDonald (Clough NS) for their organising of the event.

Best wishes to our teaching colleagues invoved in Cumann na mBunscol Hurling and Camogie finals( either as managers, coaches or organising committee) which take place in O'Moore Park on Thursday and Friday of next week 25/26th of May.Some of our retired colleagues have helped out the committee on finals  days in the past and hopefully will do so again this year and as usual all assistance on the days would be appreciated.

REMINDER GENERAL MEETING THURSDAY 1st JUNE
