November Update 2019
Beannachtai, Laois RTAI members,We had a very good turn-out for our social meeting on Tuesday 5th November (a record 24 in my time as secretary) so the change of venue (to Mountrath Golf Club) and the Quiz proved attractive. Tea /coffee and scones in the Club-house were followed by a Table Quiz with Mick Lenihan as quiz-master and 6 teams participated over 7 rounds. The winning team scored 64 out of a possible 75 and there was a 3 way (60 marks)tie for 2nd place and a sudden-death play-off . Overall the quiz was very entertaining and informative and thanks to Mick for composing and asking. Thanks to John Mulhare and Mary McCarthy both members of Mountrath Golf Club for organising the venue etc.
The next event for members is a GOLF OUTING in PORTARLINGTON GOLF CLUB (Garryhinch) on FRIDAY 6th DECEMBER in the form of a 13 Hole Scramble Competition. Tea/coffee& scones will be served from 11am with the tee booked for 11.30 and all welcome. The entry fee is €20 inc tea/coffee and as usual there will be plenty of prizes on offer. The restaurant will be open after the outing and others are welcome to come along as in previous years for a Christmas sing-along. Theres no need to book in just turn up on the day .The event is co-ordinated by Paddy Bates (Portarligton Golf Club member) and our RTAI Golf administrator Mary McCarthy.
There will not be a regular first Tuesday Social Meeting in December as it is incorporated into the Golf Outing and also due to the AGM which will be held in December. Notice of date and venue for AGM will be shortly notified.
Please let me know if you know of anyone not getting my e-mails as though problems of previous years seem to be sorted there are still a few issues with the group texts and sometimes an e-mail sent individually is delivered when a group one is not. Also keep checking our website (rtai laois) as sometimes there’s additional information etc. there to my e-mails.
