Greetings members Laois RTAI,15th November 2021
Hope all keeping well and bearing with the continuing pandemic.
Just keeping you up to date on recent activity/inactivity on RTAI front. There was a meeting of the Branch Secretaries in Dublin on 2nd November last which myself and our District Rep. Mary McCarthy attended (the first face-to-face meeting since before the Covid outbreak in Ireland in March 2019). Arising from that Meeting and the lifting of a number of Government imposed restrictions on 22nd October we are being prompted to return to some activity on the basis that this pandemic situation could continue indefinitely and if inactivity continues much longer the RTAI might just drift into irrelevance.
Arising from a recent meeting of the Laois Branch officers and the Laois reps on national RTAI it was proposed that we re-activate with our AGM in December.Our last AGM (Dec 2020) took place in Mountrath Golf Club and was just confined to the officers. Previously our public AGMs took place in the Laois Education Centre but this venue is not suitable in the present circumstances so we are hoping to have our AGM in a larger venue e.g. a hotel (probably in Portlaoise) in conjunction with a Christmas meal in the week before Christmas week .I am just giving preliminary notice now and I will confirm date,time,venue etc. as soon as it is finalised. Because it is a hotel/dining venue it will be essential for all in attendance to be fully vaccinated and have a covid Certificate of vaccination and photo ID as per Government rules.The meeting itself will be as brief as possible and hopefully the venue will be as safe as possible.I will have to know in advance who is attending as due to the hotel/meal situation I will have to know the numbers so I will be giving a deadline date when I notify you of the AGM details.
We are hoping to resume other activities in the New Year with possibility of Golf and if anyone has any other ideas I would welcome them.
Re. The AGM if anyone has a motion for the RTAI Annual Convention please send it to me (e-mail/hand -written) in advance of the AGM.
