Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig daoibh,

Mí  eile ag sleabhnú thart  agus am dom eolas breise a thabhairt daoibh faoin ár gcruinniú soisialta don Aibreán. As notified in my previous e-mail our next monthly Social Outing will involve a change of date from our regular first Tuesday to the following day WEDNESDAY 3 RD APRIL and will also unusually, involve travelling outside our county borders to KILDARE’s SOLAS BHRIDE CENTRE. There, we will have a 2.00pm assembly for a guided tour/talk re. St. Brigid etc. in the centre and surrounds followed by tea/coffee /scones . Travelling to the venue will be your own arrangements so if you are interested in attending maybe you could organise to share the journey with others. We can also choose a meeting point (eg The Maldron Hotel Car Park,Portlaoise c. 1.15PM) if people want to car pool or just follow route.
First of all the Solas Bhride Centre will want to know the numbers attending so if you are interested in travelling please let me know on or before WED 27th March. (Their office will be closed for Easter after that date) The charge for the tour/refreshments will be €10 which I will collect on the day. I will send further details re.location of venue and possible car-pooling after this date.
Also I’m giving you notice re. an event   (not invoving RTAI) which might be of interest to members which I also advertised last year. It’s the LIVE WELL EXPO by Healthy Laois & Age Friendly Laois which takes place on Thursday April 4th in Portlaoise College off the Mountrath/Limerick Road from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm. I have attachments to this email (3 screen shots) with further details. Entry to this exhibition etc. is free.
The RTAI Annual Convention took place in Croke Park on Tuesday last and myself (Runai) and Breda Broderick (Cathaoirleach) were the Laois branch delegates. Mary McCarthy ended her term as national President but will remain on the National Executive (NEC) for another year. Catherine Coleman was also present in her role as member of Standing Orders Committee and her term also ended at the AGM. Also present was Anne Curtin as a member of Financial Committee. Anne has one more year left in her term of office.Sheelagh Coyle as an ex-President was also in attendance as a guest (as is the custom for ex-Presidents). There were a lot of motions up for debate/sanction. The most notable was the NEC’s decision to approve the appointment of a (de facto) Assistant Secretary as a full time permanent position at head-office.This post will be advertised shortly.

Yours,
Sean Mullaney  (Laois RTAI secretary)
