Beannachtai members Laois RTAI,

Thanks to all who attended our opening social of the new year on Tuesday 6th February last. We had a very good attendance of 19 for the gathering (for tea/coffee/cake/chat etc.) in the Get Stuffed Restaurant in The Storeyard,Portlaoise-having it mostly to ourselves after the lunch rush. Also some people took the opportunity to have a look around the huge collection of antiques etc. in The StoreYard building.

Time for notice re. our MARCH SOCIAL for TUESDAY 5TH. This will be a more ‘cultural’ event in the NEW LIBRARY, PORTLAOISE (old Shaw Shop on Main Street)- in the upstairs room. Assembly will be from 2.00pm from when (it being Mi na Gaeilge) people are encouraged to use their more than Cupla Focal before a 2.30 ‘TALK’ on the history of Portlaoise and Laois in general from Michael Parsons of Laois Heritage Society/Heritage Council of Ireland . Tea and Coffee will be available in the library after the talk and members can also take the opportunity before or after meeting to have a look around our county library. Hopefully this Social will be of interest to many members  and if you are attending just be aware of parking limits etc. In the town. No need to confirm attendance -just turn up at the Library and find your colleagues upstairs in Community Room.

Attached is a Notice from Carlow Tourism re. February in our neighbouring county including the Snowdrop Month which some people have expressed interest in.

We have some ideas/suggestions for Meetings/Outings for the year ahead but are open to further ones.if you have any new ideas please let me know at March Meeting so we can be at least a month ahead in our planning.
