Beannachtai members Laois RTAI,
Another month is slipping by and with the clocks changed and Summer or at least Spring on the way I am reminded that our next Social Meeting is close at hand with the Solas Garden Centre in Portarlington as the venue for Tuesday of next week-4th April (as in preliminary notice sent in January). With the success!? of the Ciorcal Comhra at The Heath Golf Club in February we will repeat for April with those interested in chatting as Gaeilge to attend from 2.00 pm and then the regular meeting commencing at usual 2.30pm. Eitherways so far it is just an informal meeting with tea/coffee (the usual) in either language but If anyone has any other ideas for the social please let me know. Derryounce Lake nearby has previously been mentioned  as a walk which could be done before or after the Social. I am not familiar with the geography of the Portarlington area and would welcome advice from anyone who knows a bit.If I have further such information I will send an updated email at the week-end.
Thanks who all who attended the Cinema Morning (Roise & Frank) in the Dunamaise earlier this month. The film and the refreshments (supplied by Cafe Latte) seem to have been well received. Thanks to Cathaoirleach Breda Broderick for co-ordinating on the day.
This Tuesday is a big day for Laois RTAI with our very active member Mary McCarthy being inaugurated as RTAI National President at the Annual Convention in Croke Park. Mary follows in the footsteps of another of our active members Sheelagh Coyle who served in the same presidential role in 2018-2019. The Laois branch will be represented at the congress by Chairperson Breda Broderick and myself (Runai). Also in attendance from the Laois branch will be Sheelagh (as past President), Catherine Coleman (National Standing Orders Committee) and Anne Curtin (Financial Supervisory Committee).
I have attached  to this e-mail a notice re. an Age Friendly Expo taking place in Portlaoise on Thursday 13th April in Portlaoise which might be of interest to some. Details of this free event are on the poster attachment.
Please inform fellow members who do not use email of the above events etc. Also if you know of people who have recently retired and have not joined the RTAI please encourage them to do so.
Also if you are interested in joining our RTAI WhatsApp group please text a request to do so as your number can’t be put on list without your permission. This WhatsApp will not replace my emails but may be used for reminders and misc.
Yours,
