Greetings members Laois RTAI ,
Aug 23 Update
Hope all coping with the miseable July weather.
Thanks to all who attended our July Social more than 3 weeks ago on Tuesday 4th. We had a way above average attendance of 22 people for our comprehensive guided tour by Mary Keenan of Gash Gardens,Castletown and nice refreshments after from co-owner Ross Doyle in their marquee. Luckily we escaped the rain for the outing which seemed to have been well received by all. Thanks to Mary McCarthy for her initial planning for the event.
Kinda running out of ideas at this stage but thinking of just heading to Durrow for our monthly Social on Tuesday next 1st August and assembling at Green there outside Bowe’s Cafe at 2.00 pm. Hopefully we can get in there for refreshments and then, or beforehand members can have a look around the village with the Scarecrow Festival underway. The Festival runs from Sunday 30 th July to Monday 7th August so all the scarecrows will be on display in the village and the Scarecrow Village will be open from 2.00pm with miscellaneous activities and live music ongoing. Hoping Tuesday afternoon is not too busy festival but if Bowe’s is not suitable we will try alternative arrangements thus the request to meet outside for starters.
Would welcome advice re. Durrow and suggestions for other events/venues etc. for September and beyond.
