Beannachtaí, to all Laois RTAI members, 21-10-2024
Though its well over 2 weeks ago already, thanks to all who attended our October Social on Wednesday 2nd October. We had 16 members in attendance for our tour of Mountmellick Lace Exhibition at the MDA Mountmellick and we followed with refreshments in the attached Hare's Corner Cafe. Thanks to Sheelagh Coyle for arranging the tour and the afters.
Our final regular Social will be back to the first Tuesday again-i.e. TUESDAY 5TH NOVEMBER with a TABLE QUIZ our first since last November. Michael Linehan will, as usual be the quiz-master and the quiz will have a 2.00pm starting time. At the moment it is set for the same venue as our October Meeting and also last year's quiz-Hares Corner Cafe in Mountmellick. If anyone has a suggestion for a change of venue please let me know as soon as possible -essential criteria facilities for refreshments and not too far from Mountmellick. If the venue is changed I will send out a further email notice.
Our Annual General Meeting in conjunction with our now annual Christmas Dinner is fixed for Tues 17th December with the venue again the Killeshin Hotel. Details re. time and arrangements will be posted later and just giving you the date for your diaries.
On the RTAI national front I have some information re. events which might be of interest. There are plans afoot to organise another Webinar re. Health Insurance with Dermot Goode on 10th December. More information on this will follow. Also plans are in the pipe-line for a national RTAI choir and details re. this are on an attachment with this email.
Also the RTAI national body have made some progress on the RTAI (national) website so hopefully improvements on the site (rtaireland.ie) should be becoming more evident shortly.
Also just letting you know that locally the Laois Co. Council organised LEAVES FESTIVAL (celebrating writing and music in Laois) takes place this year from Wed. 6th to Sat. 9th November and details re. this are on the internet just google 'leaves festival 2024'
EXTRA; Noticeably Laois RTAI branch have got no notice re. any new members in ages. If you know of any of the many people who retired this year or in recent years it would be great if you could encourage them to join the organisation. Application forms may be downloaded from rtaireland.ie.
