Greetings members Laois RTAI. Hope all enjoying the beautiful weather,May 30th
Just sending official notice re. The Laois RTAI GENERAL SUMMER MEETING which is scheduled for TUESDAY next JUNE 6TH at the LAOIS EDUCATION CENTRE,PORTLAOISE with a sharp 12.30 start. All are welcome to assemble from 12.00 with tea/coffee available in the foyer . This is one of only 2 General Meetings that we have in the year and is traditionally attended by the General Secretary. As Billy Sheehan who has been coming to our Summer meetings since 2016 is due to retire in July this will be his last attendance at our meeting. As per usual he will bring us up-to-date on the latest developments relevant to our members (pension,taxation,benefits,RTAI administration etc.) and will answer any queries. To honour his service to our members we plan to make a presentation to him at the end of the meeting so we are hoping for a good turn-out of members (taking a break from the sunshine). The meeting will be followed by the usual Education Centre lunch at 1.30pm and because of that I will need to know the numbers attending. So if you wish to attend for lunch please let me know as soon as possible but by Monday next (Public Holiday ) at the latest.
In other news congratulations to the Laois RTAI Golf Team of Dinah Kingsley,Mary McCarthy,William Carroll and Paud O Reilly who participated in the national RTAI All-Ireland Golf Classic in Mountrath Golf Club on Monday 22nd May and came away with 5th prize in a field of 24 teams.
Our next social after next Tuesday’s General Meeting will be on Tuesday July 4th with a visit to Gash Gardens in Castletown. More detailed information will follow.
If anyone has any ideas for socials from August onwards please let us know at Tuesday’s meeting or otherwise.
The RTAI (national) Midweek Break this year is in Kilkenny and based in Ormonde Hotel from 8th to 11th of October. It was advertised in the Comhnasc journal but if you missed it and want more details I can forward you the information.The information will also be available at the June meeting.The deadline date for booking into this trip is 20th June.
